Monica Cravotta is a brand and product marketing expert, master communicator and executive leader with a 25-year background working with start-up and mid-sized companies in technology, software and web industries, including B2B, consumer, retail and non-profit sectors. Her talent and expertise lie in crafting strategy articulation that drives results, and in coaching others on how to do it. She has contributed to pivotal growth stages and exits for several B2B technology and SaaS companies including Aspect Development, i2 Technologies (now BlueYonder), Bazaarvoice, Mass Relevance, Spredfast, and WP Engine, as well as Kendra Scott, The Engine 2 Diet (now PlantStrong) at Whole Foods Market and KIPP Austin.
Monica’s marketing leadership background spans the full scope of product and brand marketing disciplines. She has built numerous teams and functions from scratch at a number of companies, restructured existing teams to optimize for cost-efficiency and right talent / right time, and overseen multi-function corporate marketing groups with 40+ team members across product marketing, demand generation, brand management, creative, communications, content and events.
During her recent tenure as a vice president of marketing at WP Engine, Monica grew the product marketing function to support multiple product and solution offerings targeted and positioned for a range of technical and non-technical personas across small business, mid-size and enterprise buyers. She also led the growth of the company’s corporate event strategy, overseeing WP Engine’s Summits and executive events in the US, UK and Australia, as well as the pivot and transformation to virtual in 2020.
Under her leadership, in-person owned event audiences grew 3X in three years, and the company’s flagship virtual developer conference grew to 10K+ viewers annually. Monica has been a frequent public speaker giving keynotes, leading panel discussions and playing “MC the emcee” at events in Austin, New York City, Chicago, London, Brisbane and Sydney. Her brand strategy oversight included transforming WP Engine’s house of acquired brands into a premium branded house of products and developing a new brand platform. She also led the overhaul of the company’s creative strategy, restructuring the in-house, agency and freelance talent mix to drive 10X cost efficiency while producing award-winning campaigns.
While at Bazaarvoice, Monica defined and orchestrated the company’s first major new product launch since the company’s founding Ratings & Reviews, including building out new target persona value-based messaging, marketing content, sales assets and training and a sales certification program, and employing an integrated marketing launch campaign. While at Mass Relevance and Spredfast, Monica built out the product marketing function and oversaw post-merger product and solution messaging, positioning and content, as well as the merged sales team training of the combined social media management SaaS offering.
Monica earned a BA in Humanities from the University of Colorado with an English major and theater minor. She is the proud mother of three daughters and in her free time enjoys traveling, adventuring outdoors, singing with Austin’s local chorus Conspirare, and experiencing art and performances of all kinds.
